Have you been bitten by the Pinterest bug yet? If you aren’t familiar with the popular website, it’s basically an online pinboard-style platform for sharing photos where users can manage their own personalized theme-based collections and follow the collections of others. For instance, you might have a board full of pins dedicated to home gardens, or one that only contains images of wildflowers, and another that features DIY gardening projects. I’m pretty crazy about Pinterest, and find that using it is a great way to pass the time on dreary days in. Here are some of my very favorite Pinterest accounts to peruse:
Hobby Lobby. This account serves as my best source of DIY-style projects and inspiration, and its succulent pinboard, called “Oh So Succulent” is particularly delightful. Here you can find great ideas for upcycling projects, DIY crafts, and of course, tips for growing and gardening.
The New York Botanical Garden. This account features pretty much everything you’d expect from the world-renowned public garden. With specific floral pinboards, seasonally-inspired categories, and images from the NYBG grounds, it’s easy to get lost among the inspiring images.
Flea Market Gardening. This account is managed by writer, blogger, and photographer Sue Langley, who also runs a website of the same name. Flea Market Gardening features thousands of pins, and pays particular attention to travel and nature themes.
Gardenista. A list of my all-time favorite Pinterest accounts wouldn’t be complete without mention of Gardenista, or the “Sourcebook for Cultivating Living.” Gardenista is one of the most renowned gardening and home design websites around, and its pristine collection of pins reflects this wonderfully. Check out the Gardenista account for images of NYC garden scenes, rustic cabins and cottages, balcony, roof and terrace gardens, vertical gardens, and more.
Shoot Gardening. Shoot Gardening has nearly 30,000 followers, and with good reason; this Pinterest account features thousands of images of the most elegant gardens on earth. You’ll not only find inspiring photography of gardens from around the world, but tips on how to design and care for your very own home garden too.
